Whitney McDonnell
for
College of Arts & Sciences Senator

Hi! I'm Whitney.
I'm from Mendham, NJ. I served as student body president at Morristown-Beard School last year, where my agenda was geared toward promoting inclusivity. This involved merging our SGA's efforts with the school's Social Justice Committee to ensure every student had representation in student government. I was also active in the theater program, led campus tours, and played soccer.
At Elon, I am a Drama & Theatre Studies major, a College Fellow, a new member of Alpha Xi Delta, a dramaturg for the Performing Arts Department's production of Macbeth, and just finished up serving as the Academic & Honors Senator this year on SGA!
As a College of Arts & Sciences senator, I want to give a platform for diverse voices so that everyone feels like they have a place here and a say in their government. My time on the Student Inclusive Campus Committee (SICC) has given me insight into the initiatives this campus needs to explore. Equity and inclusion need to be emphasized now more than ever, especially on Elon's campus.
I also want to improve communication within the SGA so that it may become clearer to you, the student body. This would involve increased promotion of events, such as productions and department-sponsored activities. Change starts with us! We are such a diverse group of majors and I know we can make a positive impact on the greater Elon community.
